The sketch depicts the planned renovation of Islip downtown in comparison to its current layout. Overall, the town is going to be transformed into a residential hub, which is reflected by the addition of new transportation facilities and the increase in the number of housing areas.
With regards to the quality of transportation, at the present, Islip town road facilities are generally limited with only one main road cutting across the town. Therefore, the most noticeable change in the future will be the construction of a dual carriageway, embracing the entire centre and thus creating a seamless two-way traffic flow. As a result, the northern countryside area will be completely demolished and the main road would be made pedestrian-friendly.
Islip town’s shopping zone in the north will also undergo prominent adjustments to create better access for both private vehicles and public transportations as well as nearby residents. Specifically, the individual shops are planned to be torn down to make space for an entirely new shopping mall flanked by a bus station to its left and a car park to its right. Furthermore, in order to expand Islip local populations, two new housing areas are projected to flourish on the east side of the town. Lastly, in the south, the park and school will both experience a change in size: whereas the school is going to be slightly expanded, the park will be shrinking significantly to only about one-fourth of its current size.
